Bandai has banned OP14-020 Dracule Mihawk from official and sanctioned One Piece Card Game tournaments. The rule took effect on 12 October 2026 and also applies to parallel and alternate-art versions bearing the same card number.
Why was the card banned, what should you do if it is in your deck, and can collectors still trade it? Here are the confirmed details.
Which Dracule Mihawk card is banned?
The restriction applies specifically to OP14-020 Dracule Mihawk. The card number identifies the affected version. It does not mean every card featuring Mihawk is banned.
- Card: Dracule Mihawk
- Card number: OP14-020
- Effective date: 12 October 2026
- Tournament rule: Not permitted in official or sanctioned decks
- Alternate artwork: Also banned when the number is OP14-020
Why did Bandai ban OP14-020?
According to Bandai, new releases made certain combinations involving the card more powerful than anticipated, with an excessive impact on the competitive environment.
In particular, other Leaders with the Slash attribute were becoming less viable. Bandai wants to preserve room for a wider range of decks and strategies.
What does the ban mean for players?
If your tournament deck contains OP14-020, you must replace it before entering an official event. This includes both regular and alternate-art versions with that number.
Always check Bandai's current official banlist before a tournament. It also lists earlier banned cards and card combinations that cannot be used together.
Can you still collect or trade the card?
Yes. The rule concerns official tournament play, not ownership, collecting or trading genuine cards. A ban also does not guarantee that a card's market price will rise or fall. Check the number, condition and edition when buying or trading.
Bandai announces P-163 Dracule Mihawk
Bandai plans to distribute a new P-163 Dracule Mihawk Leader card with revised text at future events. It is intended as a replacement for competitive play.
No confirmed distribution date for the Netherlands has been announced. P-163 is a different card, and its announcement does not make OP14-020 tournament-legal again.
